Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the steps Islington Movers has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking from occurring within our business operations and supply chains. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our relationships and to implementing effective systems and controls to safeguard against any form of exploitation.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Islington Movers is a removals and relocation company providing household and commercial moving services. Our activities rely on a network of employees, agency workers, subcontracted drivers, vehicle maintenance providers, packaging suppliers, and facility service providers. We recognise that elements of the logistics and transport sector can be vulnerable to labour exploitation, particularly where temporary or subcontracted labour is used.
Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery
We operate a clear zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and child labour. This applies to every aspect of our operations, including recruitment, working conditions, pay practices, and supply chain management. We will not knowingly enter into or continue any business relationship with any organisation or individual involved in, or failing to prevent, modern slavery or human trafficking.
All managers are required to promote this policy and ensure that their teams understand our commitment. Any breach of this policy by an employee may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal. Any breach by a supplier or subcontractor may result in contract suspension or termination.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We expect all suppliers, contractors, and business partners to uphold the same high standards. Our supplier onboarding process includes an assessment of labour practices and working conditions where relevant. We communicate our zero-tolerance stance and require suppliers to confirm that they comply with applicable laws on modern slavery, employment, and human rights.
We reserve the right to conduct audits or request evidence from suppliers to demonstrate compliance, including information on recruitment practices, use of agency workers, worker documentation, and grievance mechanisms. Where we identify risks or areas of concern, we will work with the supplier to implement corrective actions within a clear timeframe. If adequate improvements are not made, we may review the continuation of the relationship.
Risk Assessment and Due Diligence
We regularly assess the risk of modern slavery within our operations and supply chains, focusing on higher-risk areas such as subcontracted labour, vehicle and warehouse services, and suppliers operating in sectors or regions known for labour vulnerabilities. Our due diligence may include screening new suppliers, reviewing existing supplier performance, and seeking assurances around recruitment fees, wage practices, and worker accommodation where relevant.
Training and Awareness
We provide guidance and awareness-raising for relevant employees, especially those involved in procurement, recruitment, operations, and supplier management. Training covers the indicators of modern slavery, how to respond to concerns, and our internal reporting channels. Employees are reminded that everyone has a responsibility to help identify and report any behaviour that may indicate exploitation or abuse.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing
We encourage employees, workers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to speak up if they suspect modern slavery or human trafficking in any part of our business or supply chain. Concerns can be raised through line managers or senior management. Reports can be made confidentially, and we do not tolerate retaliation or victimisation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith.
All reports will be treated seriously and investigated promptly. Where appropriate, we will work with relevant authorities and support affected individuals in accessing appropriate assistance and protection.
Monitoring, Accountability and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery rests with the senior leadership of Islington Movers. They are accountable for ensuring that effective policies, risk assessments, and controls are in place and for reviewing our response to any incidents or concerns that arise.
This statement and our related procedures are reviewed at least annually to reflect changes in legislation, industry guidance, and our business operations. As part of this review, we evaluate the effectiveness of our supplier audits, training, and reporting mechanisms, and we identify opportunities for improvement. Updated statements are approved by senior management and communicated throughout the business and to key suppliers.
This statement has been approved by the management of Islington Movers and constitutes our Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement for the current financial year.
